Our staff photographer took this spontaneously created portrait of Thomas Höpker in the German Rubens-town Siegen in the year 1987 during the vernissage of his exhibition «Ansichten eines Reporters».
At that present time he was the art-director of the magazine stern. He later became member of the legendary photo-agency Magnum which he ran from 2003 until 2007 as its president as well. Recently, he was patron of the Fotogipfel Oberstdorf. He lives and works in Big Fresh Pond close to Southampton on Long Island, in Berlin or in Santiago de Chile. In New York City he took one of his most discussed photographs.
Should you wish to collect some original prints of his impressive work the Berlin based gallery Camera Work provides you with a great opportunity to do so.
